Chokoloskee Outing
Outdoor Resorts
We are planning an away outing to Chokoloskee in Everglades National Park and Ten Thousand Islands April 27-30 (Thursday-Sunday). Members can elect to participate the whole four days or any part.
Outdoor Resorts has informed us they are fully booked. Other hotels/lodging is available in nearby Everglades City. Outdoor Resorts has offered slips with electricity for recharging batteries and running water. Please contact the resort for more information and to reserve a slip:
239-695-2881
Make sure to mention you are with the Stuart Rod and Reel Club.
Members are responsible for their own meals and expenses. On Chokoloskee is the Havana Cafe which is open 7 am to 4 pm seven days a week. Nearby Everglades City has several restaurants which stay open a little later.
As it gets closer we will try to select one evening to eat as a group if desired, with each member picking up their own tab.
Reminder, as of 2019, all boat operators must take and pass an Everglades Boating Course to obtain a required Everglades Boating Certificate. The online course is free. Link to the National Park course and more information can be obtained at:

There is a lot of skinny water at Chokoloskee and every corner looks like it should hold fish. I suggest you get copies of needed charts for both navigation and fishing spots. Do not rely on only your GPS Plotter! Knowledge is the best tool for getting out of trouble and avoiding it.
Make sure your boat is in good operating condition.
Many members indicated they want away outings, here's your first chance to explore a great fishery along with fellow members. It should be a great outing!
